Belonging Term 4

What is belonging to me? Belonging to me is a place where I feel safe like at home or at school with my friends. My first school was Linwood Avenue and it was completely different compared to this school. It was harder to learn things because the teachers weren’t  that experienced in teaching. But at the school I'm at now in Rawhiti it's a lot easier with the learning and everything in general at this school I feel connected to because of my learning and I have been here 3 years. I was in Ata Hapara but then I shifted to Tangaroa, but I still feel I belong there.

As a Maori I belong to many many places such as my marae, awa, maunga, waka and as a Maori this identifies me. When I visit my marae I feel warmth and belonging and you can feel the tupuna’s wairua. It's just like going home to my family.

The reason I feel where I belong is the feeling of being surrounded by whanau who know me and love me.
